Hug in a Mug!

As the night's are drawing in and the evenings are getting a little cooler it's time to bring out the Turmeric Latte!

And what better way to make it than with your doTERRA Turmeric essential oil for that beautiful golden glow!

Below I explain why using doTERRA Turmeric essential oil is more beneficial than using ground Turmeric powder along with recipes for making Golden Turmeric Latte and Turmeric Tea.

Did you know that Turmeric is a key botanical of the traditional Ayurvedic health practices of India? Both turmeric root and turmeric essential oil have a long history that has inspired modern uses of turmeric today.

Turmeric oil has many great benefits and is said to help support a healthy immune system. Also great, when needed, to use Turmeric as a spot treatment or in an all-over face mask to help reduce the appearance of blemishes or for a healthy-looking overall glow.

While you can buy Turmeric spice at your grocery store, Turmeric oil has been shown to increase the potency of a substance found in turmeric roots called Curcumin. Curcumin is used in India for a variety of health concerns. However, it can be hard for the body to absorb curcumin. Which brings us to another benefit of using the oil instead of the spice—because of the turmerones in the oil, it can increase how well your body can absorb it.

I love to use doTERRA Turmeric oil to make a delicious Golden Turmeric Latte or Hug in a Mug as I like to call it!

Of course, we may have an Indian summer, in which case you can use your doTERRA Turmeric oil in a smoothie with other ingredients such as mango, coconut milk, pineapple etc!

Or you may be an all-year round tea person. Yes, you can use your Turmeric oil to make tea! This coconut milk tea is all about the Turmeric oil, which gives it a surprisingly subtle herbal flavour.

There are many varied reasons for taking Turmeric oil internally, and this tea offers a delicious and healthy way to do so.

Gold Turmeric Latte

Servings: 2

Prep Time: 0

Cook Time:10 minutes

Difficulty: Easy

Ingredients:

1 can coconut milk (can use light coconut milk, but flavour won’t be as rich) 1 cup vanilla almond milk (can also use unsweetened almond milk) ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract ½–1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (to sweeten) 1–2 drops of Turmeric essential oil 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/4 teaspoon ground turmeric Pinch of ground nutmeg 1 toothpick of Cardamom essential oil 1 toothpick of Black Pepper essential oil Ground turmeric for garnish

Instructions:

  1. In a small saucepan, combine the coconut milk, almond milk, vanilla, honey and spices.

  2. Whisk together and bring ingredients to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 3–5 minutes to reduce the mixture a bit. Stir occasionally.

  3. Remove the saucepan from direct heat. Add the Turmeric essential oil and the toothpick swirl of Cardamom and Black Pepper essential oils. Stir the ingredients.

  4. Pour the mixture into two small mugs and then sprinkle a little bit of turmeric on top. Enjoy!

Tips:

You can also add a drop of Ginger essential oil for a heartier flavour.

Coconut milk and butter have natural fatty acids and make for a creamy texture. If you’re lactose intolerant, ghee is a great alternative—it is known as clarified butter, and while the lactose is gone, the butter taste is left behind. Honey is used as a natural sweetener, but it also contains helpful vitamins and minerals.
